Costume Construction -
Bra, Belt and Skirt Designs, 3-4 Hours:
Learn the basics of creating your own professional-looking bellydance costume. Attendees will learn everything from how to create original and flattering costume designs from scratch as well as altering pre-made costumes to fit your body and how to differentiate your "off-the-rack" costume to look more unique. Basic bra and belt construction will be covered, as well as how to decorate your costume base. Students will also learn how to create their own costume patterns using a tape measure, calculator, butcher paper and pen. Please bring a notepad, pen and the following sewing notions: -pins -needles of different sizes -scissors -thread:cotton-poly blend -seam ripper -thimble -pant hooks/eyes -buckram interfacing -strapless bra:1 size too big -opaque fabric to cover bra and belt -various decorations of your choice Also, bring any costume you're working on - specific concerns can be addressed during the workshop!
