Move Studio Belly Dance Classes

New 2024 Belly Dance classes start at Move Studio in Far North Dallas on Monday January 15th!
An extra exciting feature of these new classes is that they will be offered virtually as well as in person! They can be accessed WORLDWIDE!

Mondays 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm: Belly Dance Basics: Head to Toe Technique
In this introductory class, you will learn the core foundations of belly dance, including shimmies, undulations, hip circles, posture, turns, and more! Using both fast and slow movements, we will connect these movements into creative combinations so you will be dancing joyously in your very first class! You'll learn to access and isolate muscles around the hips and torso to create soft, fluid movements and dramatic, sharp accents. This class is perfect for newcomers to the Art of Belly Dance and students looking to refresh and strengthen their core Belly Dance technique.
Drop-ins welcome.

Mondays 7:15 pm - 8:15 pm: Next Level Belly Dance: Learning Choreography “Egyptian Street Shaabi Style”
This session continues the development of Belly Dance fundamentals by incorporating more complex movements, layering, and transitions while delving into the cultural, musical, and historical background of Belly Dance. You transition from learning steps and combos to experiencing the joy of learning complete dance routines in various styles and rhythms. Explore personal expression and musicality and begin to develop your unique artistic style.

Modern Egyptian "Shaabi" blends traditional belly dance with hip-hop, street dance styles, and folkloric dance. It's sassy, cheeky, bold, and FUN! Put your hair up, bring your sneakers, and JAM with award-winning performer and instructor Elizabeth "Sa'diyya" Parr!
Prerequisite: Belly Dance Basics or instructor approval.
