Who Can Audition & What Are The Commitments?
A group performance at the Eisemann Center in Dallas!
These auditions are open to all levels and styles of Bellydance students, all ages (16 and up) and all body types! There is a place for everyone! Potential troupe members can be involved with other troupes/groups - just be sure that you can commit to all rehearsals and performances.
There will be a student troupe and, depending on the number and skill level of the students auditioning, an advanced troupe formed at this time. These troupes may function as one or as two separate troupes. It depends on many factors, many of which may not be revealed until the auditions. This decision will be made by the conclusion of the audition.
Rehearsals will either be on Saturday late mornings, Sunday late afternoons and/or Monday or Wednesday evenings. Rehearsals will be scheduled according to troupe members' availability and Sa'diyya's travel schedule. Rehearsals will consist of 1) technique drills 2) endurance training (cardio and strength workouts) 3) choreography & staging 4) practice & refining & dress rehearsals
Most performances will be on the weekends and scheduled ahead of time. Performances at Bellydance festivals and conventions will require performers to register for workshops.
Troupe members should be prepared to invest in costumes and props, totaling about $300-$500 for the rest of 2019 and into the majority of 2020.
At this time there will not be a professional-level dance troupe organized (perhaps later?) but professional standards will be expected in behavior, performance etiquette and dedication level.
There may be occasional paid performances in which the members performing will split the profits earned.
There is a troupe rehearsal fee of $5 per hour of rehearsal ($60 per month)) due at the beginning of each month from each member. This is a set rate even if we meet more than that per month (which happens when preparing for an upcoming performance.) So, Bonus!
Troupe members must be enrolled in at least one ongoing class session with Sa'diyya at all times.

What Does The Audition Consist Of?
Performing at the State Fair of Texas!
It is free to audition. The audition will consist of the following:
- -Come with a 2-3 minute solo prepared. Workshop clothing is acceptable for this audition. Solos can improvised, an original choreography or something you have learned in class or on an DVD.
-A short choreography will be taught with minimal technique breakdown to assess dancers' skill levels and group dynamic.
-A group teamwork exercise in which students create short dynamic dances with their peers.
