Make-Up, Hair and Costume Tips
Make-Up:
• If your make-up looks too matte when finished, add some shimmery powder to cheekbones, eyelids, forehead, nose and chin
• For a poutier-looking mouth, add a shimmery gold color to the lower-center lip
• Experiment with color! Don't always use the same colors; Match eye colors to costumes
• Toenails should always be painted! - Finger nails don't have to be painted, but should be well-groomed and clean
Hair:
• Always do something to your hair; It should look different than your everyday look: Curl it, straighten it or use hair accessories
• Experiment with falls - They can make you look extra glamorous
• Don't use too many hair accessories
• Bobby pin head bands on well so they don't fall off during a performance
• Keep your hair out of your face
• Try different styles: Wear it up, down, half up, etc.
Costume:
• Keep them clean! Air them out after a performance, hand wash them and fabreeze them
• Check for loose bead and sequin work and fix it! Your costume will look better and your feet will thank you for not letting glass beads fall of and cut them
• Make sure your costume fits: Bras should cover adequately and all straps should be tight, belt / skirt should not fall down (pin belt / tape skirt), and skirt should not be too long or too short (An attractive length on most anyone is the back of the skirt should be a hair above the floor)
• Armbands and sleeves should be tight enough so you don't have to bother with them during a performance ;
• Always wear underwear! Choose non-see-through, non-underwear-looking dance briefs to wear under your costume
