This is a good article. I've had two bad teachers that put me off my career in dance. One who belittled me in class for my inexperience. I had to quit I couldn't face any of the students. Then one who stabbed me in the back when I wanted to teach at another studio. It's made me not trust anyone

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that Shakti :( There are a lot of good teachers out there, too. I hope you have found someone that you can trust and who can lead you in the directions you need. Good Luck.

Fantastic! I meet so many women who say they've been put off by a teacher who discouraged them and spoke disparagingly of their abilities, and I struggle to find the right words to counter the sting of those judgements. I will definitely share this post with others. I briefly had a teacher who was a diva, a gossip, and sizeist; luckily I adored the one other English instructor in the area and stuck with her.
